~~The King of the Devils~~

I was fast asleep. Suddenly, there was a knock on at the door. I woke up, groggy with sleep, and thinking who could be knocking at this unmanly hour. My first thought was "Burglar." So, I took a stick from nearby just in case. I opened the door and the sight that greeted me was very pitiful indeed.

An old man in tattered clothes, thin with sickness, was standing at my door. He requested to come into my house for the night and I agreed with no second thought. Once he was inside, seeing him hungry, I offered him some fruits. He thanked me and accepted a bowl of grapes. Just as I was about to go back to sleep, the most astonishing thing ever happened. A flash of lighting occurred, though it was a clear night, and the man suddenly disappeared. At that moment all hell broke loose inside me. I started freaking out, calling for the old man. And if this was not frightening enough, another flash of lighting took place and the old man was back, smiling as though nothing had happened. I knew what I had to do.

I picked up a knife and I ordered the old man to stay away from me. But I knew this wouldn't last long for devils are not affected by knives. I picked up my phone and dialed 911 when suddenly my phone, my house, my knife and everything else disappeared and I was standing in a forest with a strange red light. And then a man with horns, a trident and a crown stepped out from behind a tree. He was surrounded by the red aura I had seen. He started speaking in a low raspy voice "I shall have food at last, for nobody was foolish enough to let me in their house, all except YOU." His laughter, not the joyful kind, the kind that chills every fragment of your being, echoed through the forest. He then advanced towards me, brandishing his trident, closing in for the kill. I knew all was over for me. The king (I deduced that from the crown) of devils stood right before me! I saw my life pass before my life, my most beautiful moments being played in front of me just out of reach. But then suddenly the devil hissed loudly and in a flash I was back home.

I at first thought I am dead. But then the cold got to me and I started shivering. My first thought, "Do dead people feel cold?" Then I felt a searing pain on my neck and I knew I was alive. Pain is not something dead people feel. To see what caused the pain I looked down and saw the Cristian Cross I was wearing around my neck, glowing with a warm, gold glow. Seeing that calmed me. But to this day, if I hear a knock on my door at the middle of the night, I ignore it.
